Ryan Seacrest’s mega-hit TV series ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’, perhaps is the most influential and entertaining reality show ever! It surpassed millions of viewers for more than a decade, and it also won numerous Teen Choice and People’s Choice awards. And though the show might have garnered negative light, it indeed pioneered the history of reality shows. The four seasons strong show had millions of viewers worldwide with several spin-offs such as Kourtney and Kim Take Miami.
Over the years, the Jenner family earned massive wealth but the contestants that steal the light were none other than Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner. They were unarguably the highlight of the show not just because of their impressive looks but also because of being sprightly bombshells. Kendall went on to rule the world of supermodels while Kylie became a successful businesswoman and the controversial- ‘world’s youngest self-made billionaire’.
Kylie Jenner and her journey from a gawky teen to owning Kylie cosmetics!
Kylie Kristen Jenner was born on August 10, 1997, in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of Caitlyn Jenner and Kris Jenner. In June 2014, Kylie made her acting debut for a promo for the show in Toronto. She also appeared in Jaden Smith’s music video for his song “Blue Ocean”. Apart from the world of fame, the Jenner sisters co-authored two books Rebels: City of Indra: The Story of Lex and Livia and Time of the Twins.
In 2015, Kylie and Kendall launched a clothing line Kendall + Kylie with British fashion retailer Topshop and a mobile game Kendall and Kylie in 2016. In 2014 and 2015 both of them were declared the most influential teens in the world by Times Magazine due to their collective impact on social media. Garnering support from her social media, Kylie launched a make-up line called Kylie Cosmetics in 2015 and established her name in the industry at the age of 17.
The controversy she received due to her lip surgery worked out in Kylie’s favor and her products exploded the market. Later, she admitted to getting a lip augmentation. Her look became a sensation and she sold 15,000 lip kits consisting of a lip liner and matching lipstick the same year, only to double the next.
In May 2016, she made her musical debut rapping on producer Burberry Perry’s song “Beautiful Day”, with Lil Yachty, Jordyn Woods, and Justine Skye. By this time, Kylie was a self-made star who was placed at number 59 on the Forbes Celebrity 100, at the young age of 19. In 2017, Jenner also starred in ‘Life of Kylie’ revolving around her life. She went on to do multiple make-up collaborations with her family, like on the occasion of Mothers Day she launched a makeup line called Kris Cosmetics- in collaboration with her mother Kris Jenner. She also launched a fragrance with half-sister Kim and her brand, KKW Beauty, and launched skincare brand Kylie Skin in 2019.
In 2019, Forbes had declared Kylie “the world’s youngest self-made billionaire”. The phrase ‘Self-made’ created a buzz and widespread criticism. People argued that Jenner was already born into fame and fortune. In 2020, Forbes accused Jenner of forging her tax papers to appear as a billionaire, in fact, she is not. Jenner defended herself and called the accusations “unequivocally false”. Nevertheless, Jenner is the only person on that list in her 20s with worth $700 million.
In 2017, Kylie met Travis Scott, and the next year the duo gave birth to their daughter, Stormi Webster. They broke up in 2019 but quarantined themselves together during the pandemic for the sake of their daughter. In 2021, Jenner revealed that the couple has rekindled their relationship and is expecting their second child.
With her US$1 million Chanel and Louis Vuitton handbag collection, the garage filled with Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Rolls-Royces, Jenner is undoubtedly a business magnate and a woman with no breaks!
